Sankashti Chaturthi: Moonrise Timing, Vrat & Puja for 14 April 2017 (Friday)

Sankashti Chaturthi is the special dedicated and celebrated in honour of Lord Ganpati. This is very an auspicious day and festival for Hindu community. Sankashti Chaturthi is also knowing a Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi or Sankat Nivaran Chaturthi in some places in India. Ganeshji is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. We are celebrating Sankashti Chaturthi in always fourth day of Krishna Paksha. The next Sankashti Chaturthi is on 14th April 2017 - Friday. South and North people are also believing in Sankashti Chaturthi While Maharashtrian are also very eager to celebrate this festival with lots of joy and happiness.

Sankashti Chaturthi Vrat & Fast

Basically n this auspicious day of Ganesh Sankatahara Chaturthi, devotees is doing a strict fast for full day which is broken at night but after darshan of sight of the moon.

How to Worship/Puja Sankashti Chaturthi
  • Prefer evening after seeing the moon
  • Add (tilak) Abil, Gulal, sprinkling water, chandan paste to head of Lord Ganpati
  • Offer Durva grass and fresh flowers to Ganesh Idol
  • Speak Ganesh Mantra and lighting incense in fornt of Lord Ganeshji
  • Speak Ganesh "vrat katha"
  • Offer modaks laddu
  • Followed by an Ganpati "aarti" and then distribute the modak to all devotess.
