Hariyali Teej or Sinjara Teej (सिंधरा तीज) is dedicated to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. According to the Hindu calendar 2023, Hariyali Teej Vrat is coming on Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha (शुक्ल पक्ष की तृतीया तिथि) in the month of Sawan 2023. On the occasion of Hariyali Teej Vrat 2023, women gather at one place to make adornment (श्रंगार), enjoying a swing (झूला झूलती) and sing melodious songs of Sawan. Sinjara Rituals : हरियाली तीज में सिंधरा क्या है?
Sinjara is a one type of ritual which is starting a day before Hariyali Teej festival. It is one type of item of gifts which are given by the parents to their daughter and her in-laws. You can add things as your choice Sinjara gifts like Mehendi (मेहंदी ), sweets (मिठाई), clothes, jewellery and makeup items. This includes various things like bangles (चूड़ियाँ), hehndi, ghevar (घेवर) (sweet) etc. On this day, since morning woman are very excited for Sinjara gifts which includes 16 makeup because its part of the rituals.
Hariyali Teej 2023 Puja Vidhi (हरियाली तीज व्रत 2023 पूजा विधि)
Teej vrat kaise karte hain
- This vrat is Nirjala vrat like Karwa Chauth.
- Women wake up early in the morning and take bath and wear clean clothes.
- Start worship by wearing new clothes (नए कपड़े पहनकर पूजा का संकल्प करें).
- Go to the place of puja and prepare for the fast (व्रत की तैयारी करें).
- Make an idol of Lord Shiva, Mata Parvati and Ganeshji from clean clay (मिट्टी).
- If you cannot make an idol, then you can place a statue or picture of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva at the place of worship.
- After this, install them in a red cloth seat and start the ritual of worship (लाल कपड़े के आसन में स्थापित कर).
- First worship Lord Ganesha.
- Worship Lord Mahadev and Mata Parvati.
- In the plate of worship, take all the things 16 makeup items and offer it to Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.
- Offer clothes to Lord Shiva.
- Women listen or read the story of Hariyali Teej Vrat katha.
- Worship Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva again in the evening and ask for a boon for her husband’s long life and health.
- In this festival, women worship by keeping a fast for the whole day (निर्जजा व्रत) and then break the fast on the next day.
Significance or Importance of Hariyali Teej (हरियाली तीज का महत्व)
Hariyali Teej or name is Shravani Teej have the festival of faith, beauty and love. After applying 16 makeups सोलह श्रृंगार करके) like a Mata Parvati, they are strating a puja vidhi of the vrat to get the boon of eternal good fortune. Women adorn (सजती हैं), and perform 16 makeup (16 ऋंगार करती हैं) before the worship of Teej and pray to God to be happy forever. As per the ritual, women are offering the ingredients of suhag accessories (सुहाग की सामग्री) to Goddess Parvati for the unbroken good fortune. This vrat is removing all problems of married life and happiness comes in life. This is mainly doing for the good fortune of her husband.
Hariyali Teej Fasting Rules (हरियाली तीज व्रत के नियम)
- Do not get angry on anyone while fasting for Hariyali Teej (किसी पर भी क्रोध न करें).
- Do not bring negative thoughts towards others during this time (नकारात्मक विचार न लाएं).
- Do not insult anyone during the vrat (किसी का भी अपमान न करें).
- Stay away from fights (लड़ाई-झगड़े से दूर रहें).
- Do not consume milk during this fast (दूध का सेवन न करें).
- Water is not taken during Teej Vrat (जल ग्रहण न करें).
- There is a law to take water on the next day after the fast (अगले दिन जल ग्रहण करें).
- Night awakening is done on the day of Hariyali Teej fast (दिन रात्रि जागरण करें).
- Bhajan-Kirtan should be done at night.
- Apart from this, one can meditate and chant Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.
- It is not abandoned when fasting (करने पर इसे छोड़ा नहीं जाता).
- Every year this fast should be done according to the law.
- Every Hariyali Teej vrat is performed by unmarried girls (कुंवारी कन्या) and married women (सौभाग्यवती स्त्रियां).

This all things are used to worship of Lord Shiva and Ganesha.
Maa Parvati needs a green sari (हरी साड़ी), 16 shringar accessories (सुहाग का सामान). Worship of Mother Parvati without 16 makeup (16 श्रृंगार) will be considered incomplete. 16 makeup includes vermilion (सिंदूर), bindi (बिंदी), nettle (बिछुआ), henna (मेहंदी), bangles (चूडियां), mahour (महौर), shell (खोल), kumkum (कुमकुम), comb (कंघी), perfume (इत्र( etc. Apart from this, Kalash, Akshat, Durva, Oil, Ghee, Camphor, Abir, Shriphal, Sandalwood, Cow’s Milk (गाय का दूध), Gangajal, Curd (दही), Sugar (चीनी), Honey and Panchamrit things are also needed for Hariyali Vrat Puja.
